Its War, stupid! Read this text by Russian Gerry Kasparov, World Champion in chess for many years, now a clear-spoken critic of the Putin regime. As one of the pioneers of the analogy I feel the irony in how it has quickly gone from scandal to cliché to compare Putin to Hitler, for better and for worse. Certainly Putin’s arrogance and language remind us more and more of Hitler’s, as does how well he has been rewarded for them. Does Russia really want to become a North Korea? An international pariah? A Rogue state? A Somalia? Make Putin understand that there is a cost for breaking all rules of the normal civilized relations between countries, breaking signed treaties, agreements, breaking all norms of decency. There is a war in Europe and it is driven by, financed by, armed by, instigated by, propagandated by and now even carried out by Putins army. Make the oligarchs and cronies of Putin understand that maybe life isnt so fun for them anymore, when the creditcards dont work, when you money is locked up in the overseas banks, when Russia is outside the international banking system, when you cant travel anywhere but Syria and North Korea, when all other nations except Nicaragua come to the International sports events in Russia. No comfy flats in London and Paris. No Putin clique children in the respected universities of Europe and the USA. And hoorayh for the outstandingly brave human beings in Russia who dare to call a spade a spade, who demonstrate for civilization and decency, who oppose the Putler fascism.
