Its a bit late in the calling, its not as aggressive as we hoped it would be, but atleast its here...............the soothing northerly waves of unseen currents flowing through the mountains, across the plains have finally hit us on the head and a cheers for the fire, the mach, the tando or whatever you may call it and the kacheri, the gup shup or the bonding around it is all but flowing freely, as if it were the sweet heavenly nectar and we were all up there where we hope we will be........but a grim reminder, hotter than the summer heat looking at us from a distant future, wetter than a monsoon pregnant with twins, and more alarming than any the final bells that we must all hear eventually...and that is the warning that the present, the today, the now is screaming at us....telling us that we are cutting the trunk of the very tree that provides us with shadow during the ever lasting burning sun....we must awaken and head the call of the sole mallard on a very misty morning in the swamps, we must head the sole call of the chirpy grey partridge, or the grumblings of the black one, we must head the call of the sole sand grouse muttering high above in the sky in flight, we must head the murmuring of the snipe as it takes off, we must head these calls for they are asking us to conserve them...not annihilate them.........we must control our own insatiable desires to out do each other and realize that hunting is not at all about more and more..its about each shot that we take, each bird that we may drop and each bird that gets away and the mach, tando, fire, or kacheri, gup shup, we must....we must wake up from our dreams and finally face the sad fact, the stark reality, the ugly truth and lighten up the wisdom, find our sanity and make it work so that while we teach our young ones the norms and customs of hunting, we make sure that there will be wilderness, there will be habitat and that there will be game when their young ones will need the same guidance......amen.....
