Its a very Liverpool Scottish weekend! I am about to welcome a set of bagpipes to Liverpool down at the Museum of Liverpool. This Scottish musical instrument is on a symbolic voyage to commemorate the 70th anniversary of D-Day. They are a specially commissioned set of bagpipes travelling from the Commando Training ground in the Highlands of Scotland to the beaches of Normandy. The pipes have been to Stranraer and Belfast. The bagpipes will be arriving into Liverpool Pier Head by Mersey Ferry at 11:50am on Sunday 11th May. The voyage piper, Karl Wainwright, is from Liverpool and Im told is very much looking forward to playing these special bagpipes in his hometown! Im joining the veterans with Karen ORourke at the Museum of Liverpool for some tea and cake, before visiting the City of Soldiers exhibition they currently have running about the Kings Regiment.
