Their mission is to improve the health and well being of at risk Gold Coast young people and young parents within a client focused, holistic, harm minimisation and educational framework. YHES House is a not-for-profit community organisation (call them on 5528 5333) which provides free support to youth and young parents aged 12 to 25 years (and their partners). YHES House offers a confidential service in a safe and friendly environment. Service includes: Individual support; counselling; advocacy; referral and small groups (childbirth education, new parent groups, health and well being information). ------------------------------ So what do they do there? Monday 9am-12pm Drop In Access to YHES House facilities: Access to showers and laundry facilities Access to computer and internet Ability to make appointment to see youth worker 9am-5pm Youth and Young Parents Worker: Child Health Services include: Individual appointments Baby weight checks Breast feeding assistance Health related information and advice Developmental Assessments, ages-0-4 Oral hygiene-Caring for baby’s gums and teeth Maintaining healthy self esteem as a new parent Negotiating relationships PN Depression, anxiety and setting routines Home visits for first appointments An appointment must be made with our friendly staff Tuesday 9am-12pm Drop In Access to YHES House facilities: Access to showers and laundry facilities Access to computer and internet Ability to make appointment to see youth worker 9am-5pm Youth and Young Parents Worker: Childs Health Nurse Midwife An appointment must be made with our friendly staff 1pm-3pm Childbirth Education Group: For pregnant young women 25 years and under, and their partner or support partner, this group covers: Diet and nutrition during pregnancy Dental health during pregnancy Stages of labour Unexpected outcomes in labour/birth Hospital tour Parenting relationships Family planning Babies’ emotional needs Wednesday 9am-5pm Youth and Young Parents Worker: An appointment must be made with our friendly staff 10am-12pm New Parents Group: For young mums and dads with babies age 3-12 months, this group covers: Sleeping, feeding and settling support Babies developmental stages and needs Parenting relationships Family planning Parenting payments Babies’ emotional needs Caring for baby and the environment Playing with the baby Introducing solids 9am-4pm Childs Health Nurse An appointment must be made with our friendly staff 10.30am-11.30am Child Health Newborn Clinic 12pm-1pm Child Health Clinic Thursday 9am-12pm Drop In Access to YHES House facilities: Access to showers and laundry facilities Access to computer and internet Ability to make appointment to see youth worker 9am-5pm Youth and Young Parents Worker: An appointment must be made with our friendly staff 12pm-2pm Young Parents Play https://facebook/pages/YHES-House/160512767331948?fref=ts
