Its been a busy week. My dear friend Janella drove me to PT, then we went on north to Crested Butte for lunch, then home. Along the way we saw a bald eagle, a herd of Rocky Mountain Big Horn sheep right next to the road, a few does here and there including one on the shoulder of the road, a large elk cow standing in the middle of the road, and a couple of bucks fighting over does. The five point buck drove off the four pointer. What a great day for wildlife spotting! Yesterday Carter and I drove over to Creede (where Johnny Depp filmed The Lone Ranger) for lunch and to shop at the Creede Olive Oil Company. Their many oils (olive, black and white truffle, avocado, etc.) Are excellent and I cant say enough good things about their 18 year old Balsamic vinegars are incredible! The balsamic vinegar is thick and almost sweet. The have plain and many infused flavors. The raspberry infused balsamic is delicious over fresh fruit. If you are interested they have a website. Today is Christmas in Lake City. The shops will reopen just for today. Starting at 10:00 am there will be an artists market andkids crafts at the armory,a cookie, tree and wreath auction at the Anthony Gallery (which is a gallery and adjoining theater), a fruitcake toss at the town park at noon, and later in the evening well have the annual parade of lights (always fun in a town of fewer than five hundred residents) and Christmas tree lighting, then our own Cloggers and Zumba enthusiasts will perform in the theatre. Its a full, fun day and we have plenty of snow to make it feel like Christmas. If were lucky, there will be carrolers singing holiday songs and band members playing in the street.
