Its been a challenging couple of weeks here at PSCC. In the midst of it, we received the following letter of thanks from a citizen. Its the little things like this that mean the world to us. Great job to the communicators and deputy involved. Just a note, to Dane County 911: I have nothing but praise for the Dane County 911 system/personnel and sheriffs department. I experienced first-hand today what a great team you are and what a fine job you do. I placed a call about noon today to report a seriously-impaired driver ahead of me in a black Jeep heading south on Hwy 51, a few miles north of Stoughton. He was driving on both sides of the road and into on-coming traffic. So I dialed 911, and got an immediate answer. After I got on the phone with the 911 person, the Jeep started driving even more dangerously. In the minutes that followed, I gave a running report on the phone of what I observed was happening, including an almost head-on by the Jeep with a northbound car pulling a camping trailer, and shortly afterwards the impaired driver nearly running off the road and over the embankments to the east and west. I told the dispatcher that someone was going to die if help didnt come soon, not expecting anything really, but about then I was amazed to observe a sheriffs squad heading south with light flashing come up rapidly from behind me, go around me, and pulled the Jeep over. I disengaged from the 911. All of that should be on the 911 tape. It took a while for the Jeep to stop. As I drove by, I noticed that the black Jeep had Illinois plates. I have no doubt in my mind that Dane County 911 and that deputy saved lives today. The response was incredibly professional, prompt and efficient. I couldnt believe that a squad came to help that quickly. I know were all only human and sometime fall short, but no one had better ever criticize any of you good folks around me.
