Its been exactly 2 years now when that simple cough led me to an open heart surgery...still vividly on my mind from Sept.08-Sept.11 2012 , i had a cough for 3 days when my sis Dra. Emy Cristobal-Danac, heard me coughing she told me to have a chest x-ray and show it to Dr Dong Guevs, and immediately i did, when Doc Dong saw my X-ray film he told me i need to have an ECG after 49 years of existence my first time to take an ECG... when the result came out it has no pattern accdg. to Doc Dong its alarming i am already having an heart failure, i taught he is joking, he immediately called doc Emy and asked her to sched me for a 2D ECHO.. the following day i had the test for the first time also... but the result came out after 3 days, and it was a severe rheumatic heart disease read by Doc Medina, accdng to them its mitral valve replacement, no medication possible except to have an open heart surgery to replace the valve, which i taught i am dreaming and it was not happening......, the following days were so disturbing to me all i can thinked about is my son Agel Baltazar, what if something happens to me during or after the operation, he will be left alone, so it was really a torture to me until I asked for a 2nd opinion from Dra. Myrna Reblando and accdg to her in her more than 30 years in practice all patients with rheumatic heart disease are payat but me i weighed 180lbs that time, so she told me to take some medications for a month and at least i had that hope na i will not take the surgery anymore.... I took all d medications for a month and a half, but no improvements my weight drop to 150 lbs maybe because of sleepless nights and a lot of stress...until the time i cannot eat or even drink water anymore so. Dra.Reblando told me to take the operation.Then my brother -in-law Doc Alfonso Danac talked to me heart to heart , to get myself composed,and condition myself physically,mentally.spiritually before deciding..... financially the whole family will be there to support me and finally i decided to go for it because i am getting weaker everyday....I talked to my son Agel and told him all the decisions i made and told me that he will be there on my side from beginning to end....then I surrender everything to God, let His will be done....the next day Doc Alfon and i meet DR. Villajuan the heart specialist from HEART CENTER at AUF and set all the schedules for the operation.....(to be continued)
