Its been one year today that I started at a gym as a Personal Trainer a job I first wanted to do when I was 23 years old. My private company is still doing well after over 2 years. Im 41 now (I know unbelievable with my complexion, I know) and I do not think I enjoy life more than I do right now. I wake up at 5am most mornings and usually finish about 9.30pm at night. In the last year I dont think I have woke up once not wanting to go into work. The joy it gives me to see people lose weight, get fitter and generally more confident in life is the best thing that has ever happened to me. It is unparalleled to anything I have ever done in my life. Im not going to lie and say its been plain sailing as there has been some ups and downs. If anyone reads this and wants and whole hearted believes in something then never give up. I believe you need 4 things to succeed in something 1. A plan cause you will never reach your destination without a map. You will have set backs and sometimes you may need to take a detour. But keep heading forwards. 2. To believe in your ability to succeed. One thing I have learnt is people who are insecure about their own abilities will mock, belittle & judge others. Someone once told me look at the people who are giving you advice then advise yourself. In business the only person whos to blame for your misfortune is you. 3. A killer work ethic. I gave up every part of my life to devote time to my pursuit of success. I even made myself ill on several occasions. I was tired, sick, injured and down to my last penny at points and I kept working towards my goal. If you stop fighting you will be knocked out. 4. Learn, keep learning & Learn some more. I have spent nearly £10,000 pound on courses over the past 4 years just expanding my knowledge. Not to mention the £1000s of pounds I spent on books and the amount of man hours researching lesser known subjects and I still feel like Im scratching the surface of what I would like to know. I very suspicious of self proclaimed Experts as i dont think you ever stop learning. If you claim to be an expert it just means you have stopped trying to learn and you will be static in your growth. Another way to learn is to make mistakes. Someone once said to me You are not an idiot if you make a mistake. But you are an idiot if you make the same mistake twice. Dont fear mistakes just learn from them. I hope this inspires people to pursue what they want in life and never give up no matter what the circumstance.
