Its been such an overwhelming week. On Monday my dear mother, Margaret Farley, joined my Dad in Heaven. Mom fought a such a courageous battle with an inoperable brain tumor. Early on doctors gave her 4 months to live... but Mom had other plans. She battled on for an additional 7months. She had work to do and God wasnt ready to take her. When Mom finally entered heaven she was surrounded here on earth by all her children. Mom squeezed out every ounce of life. And oh what a life it was! Mother of 6, grandmother to 14, great grandmother to another 14. Mom showered everyone one of us with an endless amount of love. Every person we loved and everyone that came into her life... she welcomed with open arms and a huge hug! She had an incredible knack of touching everyone she came in contact with. What an amazing, loving soul. I think we have all been blessed for knowing her. Mom received a Masters degree in Theology after all of her children had left the nest. She broke gender barriers in the church by becoming a lector and later a Eucharistic Minister... and then a Director of Religious Education in various local Catholic Churches. She loved to travel, and every trip she relived with such zest! You could sit for hours going through her scrapbook of Ireland! I loved every minute of it! Road trips throughout the US, the Bahama Islands, Ireland, and her last trip to Hawaii... every vacation, every new adventure brought her such joy! This last journey was no different. Mom told us that Jesus asked her to take this difficult trip. She told him that should would go willingly as long as she could hold his hand and take it together. The Lord not only took her hand, but wrapped his loving arms around her. Mom is now with him... Dad, her Mom & Dad, her sisters, and all the family and friends that arrived before her. I am sad... I miss my Mom dearly, but I know that she is with me. I want to thank everyone for their love & support through this difficult time. It has meant more than I can even begin to express. If you can laugh at it, you can live with it! - Margaret Farley 1926 - 2014
