Its charts like this that drive me a little crazy. Every one of these independent films has hollywood people attached. Im sorry, but films directed by the likes of Ron Howard and Woody Allen, produced by Brad Pitt and Forest Whitaker, or starring actors such as Ryan Gosling and Matthew McConaughey dont strike me as particularly independent. Im all for Hollywood making better, artier films, but having A-listers make cheaper movies to roll out during Fall for the prestige of picking up some nominations and then calling it Independent feels like a slap in the face to all the actual indies out there who struggle to get their movies made without the added benefit of bankable stars or paltry $1mil+ budgets.
