Its colder than Smithville likes it to be! I thought Id start the day with a cup of green coffee, but I forgot the green coloring, so instead I put on a shirt with green in it; itll have to suffice. Growing up in Smithville we always celebrated March 17 with ice cream and cake; not so much that it was St. Patricks Day but it was and still is my brother Clintons birthday. Either he was born on St. Patricks Day or St. Patrick was born on Clintons birthday; theyre both really really old! Happy birthday Bro! Its been a good weekend and Ive been encouraged, as I have been so many times before from those who were at church yesterday; especially those whos steps are slow, the ones who have seen much more life than I have; some moving about with the aid of a cane or a walker. Theyve spent a lifetime of faithfulness to the Lord by attending His house on Sunday. Theyre the ones who in my book would have the right to stay home where its comfortable and safe, and where they could catch a sermon on TV. But, no, there they are, in the pew theyve sat in for years and years and without really realizing it, they are teaching all of us younger folk a lesson on faithfulness. Youll never hear their name mentioned on TV or read their name in Whos Who, but in my book, they are the heroes; theyre the ones I want to be like (probably sooner than I would like). Today I give thanks for them. Faith of our elders living still! In spite of weather, rain or snow, O how our hearts beat high with joy when eer we see them attending church. Faith of our elders! Holy faith! May we be like them till death. They do deserve a song in the hymnal! Have a blessed day and rejoice!
