Its creepy and its kooky, mysterious and spooky... and delicious! This adorable cake is hauntingly yummy and oh-so-easy to make. Ill walk you through it on Sunday during #ITKWD, but the recipe is below if you want to get a head start! (And you get bonus points if you recognize the song reference I started with. Think David Venable QVC knows that piece of trivia?) Watch it: on QVC, Sunday, 9/28, at 12:00 pm ET on #ITKWD Buy it: qvc.co/16pcOvenTableSet Make it: See below. SWEET & SPOOKY BAT CAKE 1 box chocolate cake mix 4 cups pre-made buttercream icing Orange food coloring 1 teaspoon orange extract 1 ½ pounds chocolate chips 2 cups heavy cream Preheat oven to350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl prepare cake mix according to package directions. Pour batter into your 13x9 temp-tations baker. Bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool completely before removing from pan. For the filling, place the pre-made icing in a mixing bowl. Add a few drops of orange food coloring and the orange extract. Blend with a hand mixer until you reach the desired color. Add more coloring if needed. For the chocolate ganache topping, place the heavy cream in a small pot. Bring just to a boil. Turn off heat and stir in chocolate chips until well blended. Cool to room temperature before using. To assemble the cake, run a knife around the edges of the baker, place your Lid-It on top and quickly turn it over, allowing the cake to slide onto the Lid-It. Using a sharp bread knife, slice cake in half horizontally. Carefully slide off the top layer and place it on another Lid-It or pan lined with wax paper. Spread orange icing all over the top of the bottom layer. Place the top layer back on the cake. Slowly pour the chocolate ganache over the top of the cake, using a knife to spread it evenly. Allow it to run over the sides of the cake. Garnish with ribbon bats. See instructions below. RIBBON BATS 1 (5 yard) roll of 12 Gauge Decorative Wire, black Tacky Glue Mini googly eyes 7/8 inch black ribbon, plain or with glitter Wire cutters Scissors Ruler Tweezers Cut wire into 7-inch pieces. You will need 8 pieces. Cut 8 strips of ribbon, 8 inches each. Cut both ends of each ribbon strip into an “M” shape to create the look of bats wings. Tie one piece of ribbon at the top of one of your wire sticks. Pull tightly so it stays in place. You should have an even amount of ribbon on both sides of your wire stick. Put two small drops of glue in the middle of the ribbon knot and, using you tweezers, place one googly eye over each dot. Set aside to dry. Repeat the process until all 8 bats are complete. Once all of your bats are dry stick them in your cake at varying heights.
