Its disturbing to what levels the government want to divide the classes. This is the worst it has been for a long time, a few years back landlords would accept housing benefit because it was a guaranteed payment, and you could choose to live where you wanted. now because of sanctions and cuts to this help, it places many people including low earners at a disadvantage. Landlords are not accepting dss and if they do it needs a guarantor and still a lump of cash that discretionary payments only provide part of. The housing list itself is proof, good areas are like gold dust and you are very lucky to have been given one before this division tactic went in full force! These lucky bunnies would rather chew their own faces off than swap to a high risk area in an exchange! There are very minimal areas that are well kept and safe for children left that have not been privately sold. Leaving families on low income that are asked to leave there rented accommodation for whatever reason to suddenly be placed in what I call the dumping ground areas! Areas with high crime rates because half the people there are in financial turmoil and stuck in a rut! Families struggling to cope which can result in domestic violence and lead onto abuse. Areas that facilities are last priority because we are viewed as freeloaders! Areas that have music blasting, fly tipping and needles in the parks, (Kelly Smith memories lol) schools that are inadequate because the kids are disadvantaged and the stats show that these children are less likely to succeed due to the labels and services that are no longer available to them, high reports of adhd and learning difficulties due to the food we are left the choices of on a low income! Failure to thrive via government! Landlords very rarely accept housing benefit claimants now and this means people on a low income, benefits or disability payments are shoved into these streets that no one wants to do a house exchange with or bid on! We got told by our landlord we had 2 months to find a home, my partner was working but we couldnt afford the deposit and 1st months rent and other admin fees to rent another, I ended up being emergency housed in a bad area of my city that no one wants, it had nails in the floorboards, no heating or hot water for 3 months, a dodgy window that wouldnt close and a gate that hangs off its hinges! We are overcrowded and miles away from my childs school! We have to use the living room as an extra bedroom and the kitchen is not big enough to swing a cat, saying that I dont even allow my cat out too long in this area! Its a battle to find a space to park close to my home when its dark and I have to walk through alleys alone with my kids because some lucky first time buyers have 3 cars and I got here last, so Im low on the parking places priority list, Considering my son has mobility issues and Dispraxia, the paths and road surfaces are like playing a game of wipeout except on concrete! This is wrong! How can my families quality of living be in the hands of a government and system that sees no empathy for those who struggle. I dont leave my home after dark, I have friends in my old area that are mums of my childrens friends that no longer come knocking for my autistic son, who does not understand why he now feels so lonely, and we cant always afford to go visit, I cant just drop him off with out an invite or drive him around so he can knock on the doors of his friends homes on the hope they will play with him, while I sit in the car and wait for an hour with my 6 year old! Its not possible! Now my daughters friends are all having dinners and staying at each others houses, I cant afford the petrol to have them over for dinner then drive them home after as often as I like. This is dividing people and its unfair to the families that have to deal with it!
