Its doing my bloody head in, seeing these comparisons between this season and last after 10 games. I mean, what an excercise in futility that is! I suppose its funny to rival fans etc. but why are the press peddling it? Moyes inherited a squad which, whilst key players were ageing and additions needed to be made, contained winners and leaders in the shape of Rio, Vidic, Evra, Giggs, Carrick etc. A squad with a winning mentality that had just won the league by a landslide. It took Moyes longer than 10 matches to completely destroy that mentality and confidence, but destroy it he did. Van Gaal inherited absolute carnage, a squad decimated of confidence, having to integrate 6 new signings whilst establishing a new dressing room hierarchy to compensate for the departures of 90% of the most senior players on the staff. The 2 starting points for the 2 men could hardly have been any different. I mean, does anyone really believe that if LvG had been appointed instead of Moyes we wouldve had such a bad season last term? The fact that stats do not measure style of play, a visible direction in the coaching etc. is just brushed handily under the carpet too. Jesus wept. Rant over. {Mic}
