Its easy to get a little obsessive about this story. I suspect this is something akin to the Colorado and Washington votes to legalize weed...its the start of a whole round of movements to break up impersonal states that use some regions as banks to fund other regions bottomless needs. If you read this, note the Catalonian press attention to this story. Message to Madrid? In our country, why must the Midwest keep footing the bill for whiny deadbeats in the South to get endless federal funds? Message to the South? You bet. We could somehow survive in the Midwest without Southern endless carping and moaning about big gummint WHILE using big gummint. Bottom line: Theres a story developing here that we all need to notice.
