Its far too easy to say that the sickening events in Paris today were caused by evil people, or people who have been infected with an evil ideology (as Ive just heard on the radio). In my view, the people who committed these atrocities are afflicted with extreme ego-separation - people whove lost connection to other human beings, and to themselves - people who take on an ideology to support their fragile and vulnerable egos, but who still feel so insecure that their identity is threatened by any slight or disrespect to their beliefs - and who are so lost in the abstraction of those beliefs that they dont even realise that theyre killing and injuring real human beings. Thats insanity.
