The high will weaken over southeastern Australia from Sunday, gradually relaxing the ridge. A large, complex low pressure system lies over the Tasman Sea and is expected to shift further east during the weekend, decreasing the winds over southeast districts of Queensland. Forecast for the rest of Friday Fine and clear for most of the state. Isolated light showers possible about the northeast coast. Fresh to strong and gusty southwesterly winds about southeast Queensland including southern waters. Light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds elsewhere, fresh at times about the northern coasts. Saturday 19 July Isolated light showers possible about the far northeast coast. Widespread areas of morning frost over the interior. Strong winds over southern offshore waters, with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds elsewhere. Sunday 20 July A high lying over southern Australia should maintain fine, cool and dry conditions across most of Queensland as it moves southeastwards towards Tasmania. A trough moving northwards through southeast Queensland will lead to strong winds being maintained over southern waters, and may lead to a light shower or two developing about the exposed coast and islands in the evening. A light shower or two may affect the tropical east coast. Widespread areas of morning frost over the interior. Monday 21 July The high should maintain fine, cool and dry conditions across most of Queensland as it continues contracting to the southeast. Isolated showers will occur about the southeast coast and will possibly also develop about the southeast inland during the afternoon.
