Its four years since started working to empower vulnerable youth & Children in our community. We have faced number of challenges and learning more and more. Our greatest learning is that, most of vulnerable children come through our programs are single parented living with their mothers in extreme poverty. Most parents will show up to our offices to request even small amount of money for buying their children school uniform, pencils or ask us to visit their children in school to get their school reports and sometimes we have to follow up their academic reports, health and their moral behavior etc. By this being said, we come to realize that by taking all these responsibilities as an organization, we destroy a relationship between a mothers and their children. Mothers dont feel responsible to their children any more which its unhealthy for building a better family and community. In our journey, we worked with several partners and one of our partner who made this clear to us is Kick Loans from Canada. We worked with Kickloans empowering mothers through micro finance last year. Most of childrens mothers in our programs were given training and business capital before we shifted the program to Iringa early this year. Our pilot project with Kickloans concluded to us that Supporting a mother is supporting a child and the community. Today we are happy to see few mothers who were supported with capital and training to business are no longer coming to the office asking for support but become self volunteers, donors to our programs and employees to other women in their communities while supporting their own children who are still on our programs. We are happy to introduce to you a new project called Sauti Ya Mama Na Mtoto ( mothers and childrens Voice). This will go along with empowering young mothers with education, business skills training and seed capitals for business start up whiles taking their children to our existing Community educational and training center and hold mothers fulfill their responsibilities to their children. We are thanking our local government leaders who have worked with us showing us statistics of young mothers who have dropped from school because of getting pregnant while in school and rejected by their family members and now living as single mothers with no education or any employable skills. We have visited some of the young mother and bursted into tear hearing their stories. Get ready to hear all of these story brought to you by LGBY Media soon and please get involved. Our vision and mission are still the same but we are trying to change our policies to be able to solve the problem of vulnerable youth and children in a bigger scale.
