Its funny how something so positive can deem so many negative comments. Im surprised how so many can bypass the good the two Ladies have done across the nation and trivialize it to a name. I can look past the name and be thankful that such a group exists.......Im an active member of Black Girls Run. For me, it was the name that got me interested in the group because it was a name that I thought would make me more comfortable to step out and be with others who resemble me and not make me feel out of place. Once becoming a member, I found that there are so many different reasons to be a part of this organization. I also found several other women of color proudly wearing the shirts Black Girls Run and participating in races showing that they were able to see beyond the name. That made me feel even better about being a part of this movement. Its not the name but whats behind the name that makes this such a successful organization.
