Its hard for me to believe, but today marks two years since I was stung by a white-faced hornet, that led to unimaginable set of events. First the anaphylaxis shock after being given the IV Benedryl, then the heart attack after my blood pressure being too low for too long, resulting in me being intubated and on the respirator for 3 days. It has been quite the roller coater ride of recovery and continuing issues. After tons of testing the last few months on these issues, the realization that it is all allergy related is still sinking in. The good news is, my heart and everything else, is perfectly healthy!! The bad news is, I seem to be allergic to everything under the sun!! Whats up with that?!! As of yesterday, I have been put onto a diet called the Cave Man diet, for a few weeks to help reduce the level of allergens in my body. I am only allowed to eat a few different fruits, veggies, and meat (and I mean a few) ~ nothing else!! In fact, I have to eat less than what is allowed as I am allergic to ones they normally would allow!! This will be mostly my diet the rest of my life now, with a few of the items added back in over time. I wanted to loose some weight and I think I will!! My allergist has put me on all sorts of allergy meds and I think it is already helping with all my issues. The edema comes from my allergies as the histamines in my body have been expanding, allowing fluid to push through everything. It is making me realize this has been something that has been going on with me for a very long time, it just hit the extreme level a few months ago. Now that the swelling is greatly reduced in my body, for the first time in years, my neck is not bothering me like it usually does ~ there may be hope for that too!! So, for as frightening as this all has been for me, I am finally feeling like there is a light at the end of this very long tunnel!!!!!!!! So, happy 2nd anniversary to me for being a survivor!!!
