Its hard to believe that 15 years ago today, my father passed away due to a brain tumor. When you lose a loved one, you never actually completely get over them, as Ive learned from many experiences. My grieving came somewhat from what I lost, but more so from what I never had growing up. I wasnt alone. Luckily for me, I got to grow up with an incredible mom and brother. You just learn to accept it as a part of your past, as a part of life, and as a part of who you are today. You learn to accept it as something that was out of your control, shit happens. You give thanks for the time you got to spend with them, but at the same time, wish it could have been more. You adopt new attitudes and mentalities to help cope with your loss, and try to honor them by doing things that you presume would make them proud. My dad being a Green Beret, and an exceptional person, would always say to my brother and I Never Stop. His meaning of that was to never quit, never give up hope, and to never stop having a positive attitude. Everything has a solution he would always say. Whenever you are faced with adversity or feel down, look at it as a temporary, fixable condition. These are all words that I live by, thanks to him. Be thankful for your friends and family, because in the end, its what matters most. If any of you reading this ever need someone to talk to about someone you lost, hit me up, I care. Love ya dad, not a day goes on without me thinking about you.
