Its hard to see how Tony Abbott is going to survive as Liberal Party leader, isnt it? I know people are saying that he wont be knifed by his party after what happened to Kevin Rudd, but its pretty clear hes losing the support of many in the party. At some point Abbott will be tapped on the shoulder and told to step down for the good of the party. Whether hes self-aware enough to comply is another question - Howard wasnt and Abbott shows little sign of self-awareness. Of course I hope Abbott leads the Liberals to defeat in 2016. While I certainly dont relish the idea of a Morrison or Bishop government, neither seems as downright kooky as Abbott. It will be a big ask for Labor to win the 20 seats needed to form government in 2016 with either Morrison or Bishop as Prime Minister.
