Its ironic that some have tried to ban Harry Potter when its actually one of the greatest spiritual allegories of our time. Its the story about a young boy who grew up not knowing his purpose or his parents, let alone what they would have him do in life. Suddenly, he finds a true home and takes on the journey to becoming a better human being through learning and dedication. Along the journey he gains a true family that loves him, has to face his fears in multiple ways, and is eventually forced to face down Voldemort, the man who has been trying to tempt him away from the path of righteousness and destroy everything that he loves. This is the same man who killed his parents years ago. Harry survived the attack by being protected by what is called the strongest magic of all, which is a parents love. After Harry is thought by his enemy to be destroyed, he stands to the challenge again and casts out the evil that was trying to take hold in his life, saving his family and friends from the temptations and destruction that would have gained power if the main characters had given in to them. After the evil is gone, some of his followers come to their senses and realized their wicked ways. Having a change of heart and leaving their old life behind, many people turned their backs on darkness. The others are mostly forgotten and retreat to the shadows. The main parallels in the story are Harrys spiritual growth and maturity, that you can be forgiven for your sins and mistakes, and, most of all, love. The overarching plot of the entire series is love. Love is the reason Harry was alive at all. Love from his parents is the reason Harry learned to protect his family and friends, then was selflessly willing to sacrifice himself to save everyone he ever knew and loved. And most of all, love is why other characters fell in battle, because they loved Harry, and they wanted to protect him the way his parents protected him. Love is the strongest force of all, thats what Ive learned from Harry Potter, doesnt sound evil now, does it?
