Its late and I am having a sleepless night. I just read where two New York Policemen were murdered tonight. Maybe its because its so close to Christmas and that they had children or maybe its that i am just stunned by the shear madness of it all. When I was young I had a wild streak in me a mile wide, I bent, broke and completely ignored a few laws of a civilized society. I was not a big fan of the police back then and not one of them were on my Christmas card list. But I swear I never wished harm on any of them. It never even entered my mind to shoot a soul much less a cop.As I have grown older, wiser and lot more lawful, I understand the importance of the Police, we cannot have complete anarchy. These men risk thier lives to protect us. Yeah, they have made some big mistakes in the recent past, but until you are in that same situation, you dont know yourself, how you would react. If, as a Policeman, I asked someone to stop and they ignored my command I would automatically put my defences up. And honestly if it came down to you or me, buddy your gonna lose, if I have my way about it. The way the Police are being treated these days kind of reminds me of the way Viet Nam Vets were being treated in the 70s. Neither are/were right. And it needs to stop now. I am trying to understand the rage these people must have felt to commit these acts of violence and to find some compassion for them. But I swear by all thats Holy and all I hold dear I cant find it in me. These punks and criminals who shoot up schools, movie theaters, plant bombs, commit murder, rape, abuse a child, should be arrested, tried and if found guilty be taken out back of the Court House and shot on the spot. Two in the head and then your dead. No more ,14 years in jail running out all your appeals at tax payer expence. Maybe that would give these people something to consider before going on a rampage. I know I am on a rant, but as I am setting here writing this I am wondering how many people are going to riot, march and carry signs, stop traffic, for these two brave, murdered Police men, whos only crime was that they were cops.
