Its literally the 11th hour of the public comment period on net - TopicsExpress

Its literally the 11th hour of the public comment period on net neutrality, so please send your comments to the FCC if you havent already. Heres a handy link where you can do it: campaigns.dailykos/p/dia/action3/common/public/?action_KEY=1035 Heres the comment I sent: Dear Chairman Wheeler, I am a classical pianist and composer, a music teacher of students from the primary to college level, and a music commentator and journalist. I write about classical music on my website, missmusicnerd, and communicate daily with my fellow musicians online. Internet access is basic and essential to my work. I use it every day in my college courses to share lecture outlines, audio examples, and other course materials with my students. My classes meet in person, but I still take advantage of the online system my school supports (the widely used Blackboard system) to give and receive assignments and provide information and assistance to my students in a way that is convenient for all of us. I have found paying work as well as opportunities for professional collaboration and networking with colleagues through online channels. Many of these opportunities would not have come my way offline. I know I am not alone in relying on dependable, unobstructed access to many different websites in order to conduct my career. I also count on having my own website, which I pay to host, be easily available to the audiences I want to reach. Very few of the websites I count on could afford to pay for access to the proposed fast lanes. I certainly could not afford the extra costs for my own site. If net neutrality is dismantled, the lives and livelihood of millions of Americans will be severely impacted. I dont believe there is any rational justification for the proposed changes to how the internet works; I believe they are a product of pure greed. This is a matter of corporations concocting new ways to milk users for even more money than they already do, just because they can. The internet has transformed the world. It is an incredible tool that has enabled millions of people to connect, express themselves, and earn their living in ways that were unimaginable fifteen or twenty years ago. It has leveled the playing field by giving regular people unprecedented access to large-scale communication. Dont move the clock back by allowing the deck to be stacked the deck against us. Yours sincerely, Linda Kernohan a.k.a. Miss Music Nerd missmusicnerd
