Its no surprise that my opponent wants to hide his buddy-buddy relationship with our ultra-liberal Mayor, especially when he followed his lead and voted the same way over 99% of the time in the City Council, including votes to hike your property and income taxes with record increases. Yes, Ive disagreed with the Mayor on several issues, especially on when it comes to defending our NYPD and criticizing the Citys abysmal progress delivering the Sandy funding I fought for in Congress to the people who desperately need it. Ive been proud to fight for the middle class in Staten Island and Brooklyn and hold the Mayors feet to the fire on these issues. My opponent, on the other hand, is nothing more than a puppet and a rubber stamp for our ultra-progressive Mayor and his agenda. ------------------------------------------------ Mayor Bill de Blasio last week said that he would campaign for Democratic congressional candidate Domenic M. Recchia Jr. in Recchias battle against GOP Rep. Michael Grimm. The question is, does Recchia actually want the mayor to campaign with him here on Staten Island? De Blasio has a 25 percent approval rating in the borough, according to a recent Quinnipiac University poll, and lost the Island in last years mayoral campaign. Oh, Ill certainly campaign for Domenic, Ill do anything that would be helpful to him, because I believe very much that he should be the next congressman, [de Blasio] told reporters. It wasnt the first time that the mayor has hyped Recchia. And the mayor and Grimm have some stormy history, clashing frequently over Hurricane Sandy issues.
