Its not easy getting up in the morning when your membrane is meshed with the fresh memory of a long artistically beautiful dream about someone who recently died. Now listening to Fiona Apple, PJ Harvey, Goldfrapp, Cat Power & Martha Wainwright to salvage the energy necessary to get something done today, although I will be the first to say that standing still and doing nothing is not a waste a time, it is in fact necessary to reach a place where ones work actually means something in the long run and I wouldnt even measure the worth of it in terms of future productivity, it is worth something in itself, being there in the internal world and keeping it a secret seemingly amounting to nothing amounts to everything. Furthermore in a city that markets itself as a place where everyone should have the goal to make it big, and some of them make claims to being politically radical in their identity and/or values. Stating the obvious: Often times it is treated just like a brand, and most of those who make it big dont necessarily compromise, they just werent the ones who were particularly critical or threatening to begin with, easy to swallow. And though it may seem like they lost their values along the way, the overarching value was often always opportunism-opportunism-opportunism anyways. Either that or they are just playing out their monarchocapitalist roles as heirs to parents with status, cultural capital and connections...
