Its not so rare if its sitting in your chair applies to this 30 - TopicsExpress

Its not so rare if its sitting in your chair applies to this 30 year old male seen today by Dr. Khanjian complaining of headaches, fluctuating vision, and pain on eye movement. His vision, a perfect 20/20 in both eyes. In the right and left retinal photos below, you will notice that there is a prominent yellow round landmark known as the optic nerve. These optic nerves should be more defined, not so swollen looking, and less blurry in their margins. This patient has bilateral papilledema, which confirms that he has increased intracranial pressure in his head that is causing the optic nerves to swell in his eyes. After further examination by MRI, MRV, and lumbar puncture we confirmed a brain tumor. This is a reinforcing reminder to us all that annual eye examinations are very crucial in not only evaluating your eyesight, but also screening for other pathologies that may exist within the body. Having 20/20 vision, like this patient, does not mean you are excluded from annual examinations. Get in and get checked.
