Its not wrong for them (Irish Water) to have a dominant position but the authority has already made a submissions in relation to opening up the market to introduce more competition and has called for more participants in the market so that theres more competition This is from the Competition Authority in Ireland in relation to Irish Water. Since IW is a private company, they cannot have an exclusive monopoly of a service as it could be seen as abusing their dominant position. Therefore under competition laws, they have to open up the water services to other suppliers so as to introduce competition in the sector. THIS IS PRIVATISATION.
