Its probably fair to say that Mark OConnor is single-handedly - TopicsExpress

Its probably fair to say that Mark OConnor is single-handedly changing the way that violin music is heard, taught and understood in America. His new album, MOC4, released at the same time as his OConnor Method Book IV features six violinists that O’Connor has mentored: Jeremy Kittel, Angella Ahn, Kelly-Hall Tompkins, Tessa Lark, Brad Phillips and Sara Caswell. This record sees OConnor once again journeying through the hills and valleys of the American landscape, as he and his fellow musicians sprightly and vigorously wend their way around the pathways of jazz (St. Louis Blues, Minor Swing), bluegrass (Gold Rush), western swing (San Antonio Rose), gospel (Ill Fly Away), rock (La Bamba) and folk (Ashokan Farewell). ...Naumburg Prize winner Tessa Lark joins OConnor to turn in a gorgeous version of the Bob Wills waltz, Faded Love, in an arrangement that would have made Wills proud...The song selections, the ingenious arrangements and the dynamic, robust and spirited fiddling on MCO4 give us yet another reason to be enthusiastic about OConnors music and his commitment to bringing new life to the rich diversity and wide range of classical American music.
