Its so cold, we decided to think about flowers and sunshine - and new plants! This year well finally be carrying Crapemyrtles in our nursery yard. Theres a variety (Lagerstroemia) thats been cultivated for our zone. Heres one of four well have - Pink Velour. Its a winner of a Gold Medal award from the PA Horticultural Society that wrote: One of the more colorful varieties, Pink Velour® parades flashy magenta-pink flower clusters atop shiny burgundy foliage in mid-summer. Pink Velour has been chosen for its cold tolerance and resistance to powdery mildew. Its relatively late bloom time justifies its place in the landscape. Plant as a specimen or near the foundation.
