Its so sad how such a tragedy has lifted veils. We irresponsibly blame mental health, autism, men, we put up more obstacles for people. We stop listening and yell over walls we built. I look at comments that are fueled with aggression in the name of such sadness. This man was a symptom of a time where anyone can find allies within a global network. We are the beast. I feel helpless and scared for the young women in my life. I watch videos of this man and wonder if we should be seeing that at all, what the families must think of seeing his face, of the police who preferred to think him normal. He was called out and still it happened. I am waiting for us to drop verbal arms and listen for the language we need to use when we speak of women. Yet I know there are always going to be these stories. I dont know how to resolve this pain but ask that we approach these conversations with compassion and understanding first. With no ego. With love.
