Its still 3 days out but we could be looking at another round of potentially severe thunderstorms developing on Wednesday afternoon particularly in south/southwestern areas, though some modelling indicates more thunderstoms extending to within a line bounded by Busselton to Kalgoorlie to Esperance. Too early to make a definite forecast though. As far as the general synoptic situation is concerned, it appears a ridge will lie south of the state with a surface trough extending south from the inland Kimberly to lie just east of Augusta. Heat and moisture will pool into the base of the trough, which will provide the basic ingredients for thunderstorm formation in the southwest. Wind shear is again quite strong with decent turning with height (E/SE at the surface, swinging W/NW at 700mb) and steering winds are forecast to be NWly in that area. As I mentioned, it is 3 days out and the modelling will change a lot during that time, but watch this space for more details.
