Its taken nearly a week for us to catch our breath after the incredible weekend of NFWA action, and in case you missed it, we have a champion! Friday night started with The Electric Redneck AK Lightning calling out Stephen Wolfe in confrontation that stemmed between their respective valets, Ms. Honey L Cqour and Ms. TJ. After a rowdy brawl, the impromptu match ended in a DQ decision, after Lightning delivered a blatant punt to Wolfes nether region and walked out. That wouldnt be the last we saw of Lightning, however, as he would assault Max Steele, just when it seemed the Sarge was close to defeating SCW rival, the brutal German Destroyer Von Hess! The two continued their attack on Steele, until a returning Wolfgang Danger made the save, prompting the two fan favorites to issue a challenge for a tag team match the following night. That nights featured tag bout showcased the flash and flair of upcoming young stars Darious Rínard Douglas and Toussaint Dijon, as they battled the unorthodox Adan Reyes and arguably the most hated man in NFWA, JT West. The two young stars shined bright, but it was the veteran tag experience of Reyes and West that kept the duo in control of the match, and secured the victory. The King Dale Houston And SCW Champion Hot Hands Edzel Mendoza sent a message to all of NFWA, proclaiming SCW s dominance in the Northwest, prompting Wolfgang Danger to challenge Mendoza. The tough as nails Danger went toe to toe with the big Puerto Rican, but Mendoza would walk away victorious, with the approval of The King. The big match of the night featured Calvin James against the monstrous Brody Adams in the first ever NFWA Alaska Championship bout! Both men had run the gauntlet of opponents on the way to this moment, and neither would back down. In a wild display of athleticism and sheer brutality, both men trade offense until the final bell, in which Big Nasty Brody Adams would be crowned the first ever NFWA Alaska Champion! James Immediately made a plea to General Manager Johnnie DeBest for another shot, with the stipulation that he would first have to defeat former five time NWA Champion Adam Pearce, as Adams would be facing Mendoza in a battle between regional champions! The buzz carried over into Saturday night, as the fans poured in to witness the fallout from the night before. Darious Douglas would start the night off victorious against Adan Reyes. After the two men had expended their entire arsenals at one another, they shook hands in a very rare show of mutual respect, both having won over the crowd with their determination. Stephen Wolfe took his frustration out on the Haitian Hercules Toussaint Dijon, who first garnered the attention of the ladies in attendance with poses and push ups, before battling the angered Wolfe to an eventual loss. AK Lightning and Von Hess dominated much of their match against the Sarge and Danger, but as the tide turned, so did Lightnings allegiance to Von Hess, as he walked out on the German Destroyer, leaving him to suffer vengeance of the American made duo of Steele and Danger, who went on to wave the Stars and Stripes in victory! The SCW Champion, Mendoza, and NFWA Alaska Champion, Adams, began with a wrestling match, but it quickly turned into a pier six brawl, as the two traded blood-drawing chops and chair shots, before the referee was forced to throw the match out. With so much left unsettled, one can imagine that not only the two champions, but the two organizations have just begun a rivalry that could last for some time. The storied Scrap Iron Adam Pearce had arrived in Alaska and had no intention of giving Calvin James an easy night. The ecstatic crowd was behind James, as Pearce relentlessly twisted and beat on the young star, but James refused to stay down. Repeatedly battling his way back, only for Pearce to continually level him with vicious pleasure, James seized the opportunity to catch the cagey veteran off guard, laying him out with his signature cutter maneuver, before realizing the referee had been incapacitated. As Pearce laid motionless, and James attempted to revive him, JT West hit the ring and leveled Calvin James with an unidentified object, before rolling the stunned Pearce on top of James in time for the three count to end the match. As James recovered, Pearce celebrated as West took to the microphone to proclaim that as long as West Is in NFWA, James will never see a title shot. The two would again rush the ring to assault and humiliate James, but it was the Greatest Show on Earth who would singlehandedly stand off the two despots, solidifying his place in the hearts of the fans in attendance, and sending a clear message to the wrestling world that Calvin James has arrived! It was a weekend that NFWA Alaska fans wont soon forget, and we can only look forward to what the future holds as we head into June. Thanks for reading, and hope to see you all at an NFWA event soon! - Jenn Ettles, NFWA Alaska Media
