Its that joyous time of year again!!! If you are getting a real Christmas tree below are some simple steps to keep it looking its best... * When choosing a real tree remove up to 1inch from the bottom of the trunk to allow it to absorb water. * place in bucket of water in garage or outside to allow tree to naturally open and start to absorb water/food. * When positioning the tree try to keep away from the radiator as this dries them out quicker * Place in a stand or container that can hold water. * Water daily as they can easily drink up to 1 pint or more a day. I would also use a Christmas tree food which can easily be homemade rather than buying the expensive stuff from a shop. You will need:- 1 gallon water(slightly warmed to help dissolve sugar) 2 cups of sugar. 4 teaspoons of chlorine bleach. 4 teaspoons of lemon juice. Mix together and feed daily. If you have pets or small children and worried that they will try to drink the solution from the container you can always use the below... 1 gallon water. 1 can of lemonade. 4 teaspoons of lemon juice. Both the above recipes can also be used as cut flower food too. Hope all this helps and have a jolly Christmas.
