Its that time of the year again, the days are certainly warming up, December is just around the corner, Santa is getting ready for his big night out and Lochie and Briggi are gearing up to start Reindeer Feed production! This year Lochie and Briggi have decided that they want to support Davinda Palmer. Davinda is 5 years old and has a chromosome deletion which is so rare that she is the only person in the world with that condition. She is severely globally developmentally delayed both mentally and physically and has a very long list of medical conditions and challenges. Davinda has endured numberous surgeries in her short life including two heart surgeries, lung banding and debanding and oral surgeries. She has been diagnosed as being deaf and is unable to communicate with anyone. Despite all of this, Davinda is a fighter, she has recently learned to walk with the help of her assistance dog Lucy and is trialling ways of learning to communicate. The best possible option is a communication device which costs around $7000. Because Davindas condition is so rare there is very little funding and assistance available for her. Were thinking that that might be a little out of the reach of a little Reindeer Feed operation, but the next best thing is an iPad. While this is still expensive, when you consider that one communication app is $400!! Lochie and Briggi are aiming to raise $1000 to go towards its purchase. Its a big ask - last year Lochie and Briggi raised $270 for Cindee Rose (not a bad effort for a 5 and 7 year old!), and were really grateful for the huge amount of support that they received from the Narrabri Community and theyre hoping that this year they can be bigger and better. They already have a number of sponsors including Growth Agriculture in Wee Waa, Narrabri Farm Centre (CRT), Landmark Narrabri and Pursehouse Rural Narrabri.
