Its that time of year, dont forget to winterize! 1. check air pressure in tires, it sucks to come out in spring to a flat thats sat long enough to ruin your tire... and the ride you would have taken 2. top the tank off, the more room in the tank that is unoccupied allows for more surface area to collection condensation allowing water to enter your fuel 3. Stabil that gas. Get fresh stabil, its only a few bucks, add it to your topped of gas and ride around a bit until it has had time to circulate through your fuel systems. 5 minutes minimum... 4. Battery tenders are great options but if you dont have one just disconnect your battery to ensure no drains occur from the ECM, clocks, or other electrical devices. If you get a tender get a decent one that shows what its doing via LEDs so you know if its charged, charging or in storage/monitor mode. You should be able to tell at a glance that your bikes sitty pretty. 5. Do not start it up at random times in winter just to let it run. Some think this helps burn off/evaporate water buildup. Unfortunately it does the opposite. When the engine etc cools back down that temp change dramatically increases condensation rates and now its occurring in your engine, not just your gas tank. If you want a winter ride then go for it, just make sure you ride it a decent distance to it can get everything up to operating temp, just avoid the unnecessary start ups. Your spring is in your hands, a little time now will save you countless headaches and possible expense later on down the road! Ride Safe, Ride Free, AND RIDE SMART! TFFT! What other winterization tips do you have?
