Its the morning after the night before. 99% of progressive Scots - TopicsExpress

Its the morning after the night before. 99% of progressive Scots are devastated as we voted to remain part of the Union. I campaigned on the Yes side from the start and Im 100% convinced that was the right choice. Workers, Trade Unionists, Environmentalists and people from all walks of life created a mass movement against austerity. Not a nationalist movement, A movement that was broad based, inclusive and committed to taking a different path to the one taken by Cameron, Brown Blair, Major and Thatcher over the last 35 years that has damaged communities and devastated Scotland. We took To the streets, Embraced social media and were innovative in combatting the disgraceful role of the mainstream media. And you know what? We came mighty Close to pulling it off! We got 45% of the vote and won a number of Local Authorities. Im proud my home City Glasgow voted Yes, Its a tribute to our radical traditions and well done to the army of activists who delivered That awesome result. In the end we came up short and that is hard To take. We wanted an end to poverty and misery, an end to the sad situation where so many children are born poor and destined for failure at the very start of their lives. But there are many positives, Many people have become politicized and will join those of us fighting for a fairer society. I also believe Labour have Played a disgraceful role in this campaign. They sided with the Tories and The establishment in this campaign. The Tories have no credibility in Scotland and needed some Patsies to do their dirty work! Sadly, Labour were willing allies, they shared platforms with the Tories, Hugged them in victory and used the same scare stories and lies to scare the voters. For huge numbers of working class people Labour have betrayed them and will never be forgiven. I think Labour will pay a heavy price and will struggle to recover. I think this was a setback, but for me it was a hollow victory. Young People voted yes in huge numbers, they know this Westminster free market system has nothing to offer. We also have massive austerity round the corner, £25 Billion in Cuts after the next Election! That fact was omitted from Milliband,Cameron and Cleggs campaigns to vote No. Workers will feel betrayed as this sad reality hits home in the period ahead! Do not despair, We are the many, We are the few, We will have our day and win the right to govern our own country. But lets fight austerity with our friends brothers and sisters across the UK that is imperative in the period ahead.
