Its the time of year again when schools put on Christmas performances and tell parents about what they can do with regards to photography... An example received this week: Please note that taking photographs or videos on mobile phones is not allowed, If you wish to take a picture then please bring along a camera. In line with our Photographic & Video images policy, parents will be permitted to take photos of their children in school as long as they are for personal use only, and not shared on any social media sites such as Face book. This seems a little discriminatory - Im sure that there are people whose only camera is on a mobile device - and theres no mention here of tablets either. Id like to get a definitive answer to what the regulations are to enforce this policy. Not interested in opinion - just what relevant legislation stands - is there any case law? As far as I can make out its unenforceable.
