Its usually lazy prosecutors and coward judges at the root of our criminal injustice system. Either that, or as in this case, they protect the criminals or at least turn a blind eye at them and then go after decent people. If you have a concealed weapon permit and then go into a local store that has a sign prohibiting guns, and then are somehow caught, all you are guilty of is trespassing. If this STUDENTS (who has already enlisted in the Army) knife was not otherwise illegal due to length of blade by city ordinance, I dont even think there is a crime under zero tolerance. This is administrative or civil only. I dont know what the circumstances were that led up to the search of his car and what law was broken, but I sure can tell you how much better I am going to sleep tonite because this STUDENT who has enlisted to serve his country and then after 6 years of military service (where he could do as little as 2 years), and then wants to be a cop or firefighter, is in jail, or worse yet, out on bond. I better lock my doors tonite. Dear Mr. Prosecutor, you should run for President. You got my vote. By the way, what are you doing to keep rapists robbers, and murderers off the streets? Perhaps 2 or 3 months?
