Its very important for people to know its not two New Yorkers who dont know anything about the Berkshires coming up here to bring you opera, said Jonathon Loy, 34, who has been a frequent, lifelong visitor, one of two young professionals organizing a new Berkshire Opera Festival, with summer performances slated to begin in 2016. Its a very special place to me and that has everything to do with why were planning this, he said. I want to bring opera back to the place that I love. The co-founders are Loy, who will serve as general director, a staging staffer and guest stage director at the Metropolitan Opera, and Artistic Director Brian Garman, a freelance conductor and vocal coach who has held music directorships at the Pittsburgh Opera Center and the Seattle Opera.
