Its very sad these days to watch the news on TV and read stories about whats happening around the world. And while it feels so real in the faces of the victims we see, its also very alien to us. We have never slept in fear not knowing if well be alive tomorrow because we hear gunshots and bombings daily. We have never known what its like to walk to school with a tank following us. With someone blowing up a bus full of innocent people for a god so different from ours, for a cause that breeds hate. With people who test their missiles for fun on passengers in the vast sky. I will never understand the concept of war - where you are so consumed by greed and power that you no longer see a person but an obstacle in your way that should be removed immediately. I woke up today with the sun shining, taxi drivers holding up traffic, and all the freedom to do what I wanted with my life. Somewhere across the globe, people who dont even know a country like ours exists is just trying to survive, to dodge a bullet. It puts our petty problems and egos in perspective. I think sometimes maybe we are in a different world, and people on TV and in the news are in another. Amidst all the sadness and injustice and our own feelings of helplessness, I thank God eternally for putting me in the more peaceful of these two worlds.
