Its very understandable to me that atheists think that theists have reduced and trivialised the incredible reality which surrounds us by declaring that a personality has projected the entire cosmos. When we ponder the enormous complexity of the processes which have shaped life on this one tiny, tiny speck of a planet, it is mind boggling and many will question where the hand of a single personality is to be found or understood in all of this. However, when we look at the sheer enormity and complexity of the known universe our mind is again stopped in its tracks as we attempt to make something of this - not just its size and complexity, but the fact that many of the trillions of stars in the trillions of galaxies have planets orbiting them and it could well be that many of these are inhabited with living entities - each one convinced of its importance and central position in the universe! Again, the atheist may ask where the hand of a single conscious entity is to be found in all of this. To the theist, this is the greatness of God. As amazing and beautiful and magnificent this universe is, God is more so. I think this video of a slice of the Andromeda Galaxy provides us with a perspective which completely destroys the validity of our happiness projects and any idea we can have about our agendas or self importance.
