Its wildfire season here in Los Alamos. Right now wildland firefighters are working to contain the Diego Fire, burning in the in the Jemez Mountains near Coyote, NM. These photos show helicopters taking off from the Interagency Fire Center at Technical Area 49 near Bandelier National Monument. The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Bandelier National Monument, and Santa Fe National Forest Service built the 6,400 square foot facility for joint coordination and response related to wildland fires and to significantly enhance fire-fighting capabilities of the partnering agencies.
