It’s 4:30am… stumbling into the kitchen about to prepare my #preworkout meal, i realize 2 things: 1) it’s #nationalcookieday 2) i am out of preworkout formula. This is one of the rare occasions that calls for my Jacked Up Java☕️☕️☕️ By now, most health-foodies are familiar with #bulletproofcoffee which combines coffee, coconut oil and ghee to provide a more stable, longer-lasting caffeine high. I kick it up a notch by adding some exercise-boosting properties like vasodilation, serotonin spikes, and carbs/fats to fuel your workout. #ingredients (all #organic & #fairtrade) #coffee (instant, #espresso, frenchpress, etc) - stimulant, focus #peppermint (tea bags, extract, or fresh leaves) - vasodilation #maca (powder, capsule, or root) - energy, endurance, iron #cacao (powder, nibs, or #superfood chocolate bar like @alohamoment) mild stimulant, mood-boosting (seratonin) #ghee **(clarified butter) - anti-inflammatory, CLA, energy and/or #coconutmanna ** or #coconutoil - cognitive function Almond milk (optional) vanilla (madagascar beans or extract) sweetener options: Maple Syrup - higher glycemic Manuka Honey - higher glycemic The preferred preparation is hot (not shown in video). If you prepare it cold/iced, the ghee/coconut will harden. If this bothers you, add banana/yogurt/other creamy ingredient. Meal Version~ I often turn this into a meal by adding more protein & carbs and using a lower glycemic sweetener. See below for options: - Lucuma - antioxidants, lower glycemic (but very mild sweetness) - Agave Nectar - lower glycemic - #protein powder - greens powder - hemp/chia or other seeds/nuts - protein. - cherries/oats - carbs Toppings: - Mulberries- antioxidants - toasted coconut chips - just because :) #tipoftheday #helpfulhints #essentials #diet #fitness #fitlife #fitgirl #smoothies #workout #nutrition #healthfoodie #caffeine #hyperlapse #tuckjumps
