It’s National Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Week and we want to take this opportunity to recognize the amazing work that the Organ Procurement Exchange of Newfoundland and Labrador (OPEN) takes part in each year. OPEN is a provincial program overseen by Eastern Health that provides education and coordination of deceased organ donors to all the provincial regional health authorities and people of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is the work of this program, combined with the good hearted nature of the people of this province, that has helped Newfoundland and Labrador rise above the national, per capita, average for deceased organ donors.
