It’s Not A Mind Trick When God changes your identity, it is not some psychological trick. There is real, radical change. And the transformation is so total and complete that in time, you even forget who and what you used to be before you put your faith in Christ! People will come and say, “Hey, I know you. I remember you from the past.” But you will say, “No, I’m not that person. The person you once knew no longer exists!” Famous American preacher Kenneth Hagin was radically changed when he was born again. One day after his salvation experience, he met some of his old friends and they said: “Hey Kenneth, we know you ... remember when we used to break into stores and steal things together?” Brother Hagin replied, “No, I don’t know who you are talking about … that guy has died!” But they said, “You didn’t die. You are standing right here!” Brother Hagin went on to explain to them that when he was born again, He became a new creature in Christ with a new identity. He wasn’t the old Kenneth any more; he was a new man living in the power and grace of God! Friend, God’s transformation of your heart is a work of His grace. Yet, you and I also need to consciously identify with the death, burial and resurrection of Christ daily if we’re to experience the new life that God wants to give us: When Jesus died … you were crucified with Him. When Jesus was buried… you were buried with Him. When Jesus rose from the dead … you were raised together with Him. When Jesus sat down on His throne … you sat down together with Him. And when Jesus was given all authority … you now share that authority with Him! So take the time to dwell on these truths today, and ask God to transform every part of your heart and life! Prayer for the day: Thank God for the access He has granted you to His goodness, grace and power through Jesus Christ. Pray that through faith and complete dependence on Him, you can find provision for life’s every need.
