It’s Not Over: Enyeama, Ejide Declare -Call For Support From Nigerians -Insist AFCON Ticket Still Possible Super Eagles goalkeepers, Vincent Enyeama and Austin Ejide have taken up the gauntlet with more words of appeal to Nigerian soccer fans, as they seek to appease their aggrieved supporters over the shock loss to Sudan on Saturday. With the second leg of the Sudan fixture now looming large at Abuja National Stadium this Wednesday, both veteran shot-stoppers, who are leaders among the players have stressed the importance of unflinching support from all Nigerians, as they believe the Eagles can still make it to Maroc 2015. Statistics from Group A in the AFCON 2015 qualification race show that the Eagles will have to win all three remaining matches - first at home against Sudan, second away to Congo Republic and their at home versus South Africa - and, while many critics believes the task is too daunting for the out-of-form Nigerian squad, Enyeama insists the mission is attainable. Enyeama, who is now Nigerias substantive captain, following the retirement of Joseph Yobo, said the AFCON ticket is still within grasp and urged Nigerians not to lose faith in the team. “We didn’t go out there to lose to Sudan but it has happened and that is now history. We must quickly forgive and forget because we have a game on Wednesday and if we win that and our last two games, we will still be in Morocco,” the Lille Metropole of France safest pair of hands enthused.. On his part, Ejide, who is Nigerias assistant captain and has always trailed in the footsteps of Enyeama, added that there is need for Nigerians to come together and support the team at times like this instead of condemning them. “It’s at times like this that we need the media and all of Nigerians but what we hear is condemnation, crucify them. That will not help the team,” the Hapoel Beer Sheva of Israel star stated.
