It’s OFFICIAL! Brett is headed to LAS VEGAS to compete in the Cabinetmaking trials for the SkillsUSA WorldTeam 2015!!!! Due to an under 23 years old in 2015 age requirement, Brett got the invite last night. Here is part of an email he got: The Cabinetmaking trials for the SkillsUSA WorldTeam 2015 will be conducted at the AWFS (Association of Woodworking & Furnishing Suppliers) Fair in Las Vegas. You would need to fly in on Monday, July 22 and fly out Saturday afternoon, July 27. You would be competing against two previous HS Gold medalists. Monday is travel and arrival day, Tuesday is orientation, competition is WED, THU and FRI and the Awards Ceremony is Saturday at 11:00am in the competition booth. Being a member of the WorldTeam is a bigger deal than most team members realize. We haven’t set any schedules yet for WorldTeam 2015 (the 2013 team just returned from Germany yesterday), but you should expect one trip to DC probably in the spring of 2015 that would last two nights and perhaps one to three weeks, not necessarily consecutive, of advanced training somewhere with your WorldTeam technical expert. The WorldSkills Competition in 2015 will be in Sao Paulo, Brazil from August 11-16. How cool is that?
