It’s a Wonderful Life, Comrade The oligarchs/billionaires who run the USA are largely ignorant people, they love only one thing-- money, and fear that the rest of us want to get into their deep pockets keeps them struggling to control information and government. Most of us are not psychopaths like them-- we would never horde billions of dollars because we understand that by doing so we would create poverty and suffering for others. We dont envy them, as they believe, we pity them. But we also find contempt for them, because they will not leave us alone, after our last dime. They believe that the masses are conspiring against them, so restrict whats said over their tightly-controlled mainstream media to their narrow belief system, and force our elected representatives --presidents and Congress, to their knees constantly kissing butt for the campaign financing bribes. At times they go berserk, like when they pushed their sycophantic government into scouring the land for unAmerican activities in the 1950s. They have long feared socialism, because they know it could result in an outbreak of justice, and the 1% would no longer control 99% of the true wealth. American socialists generally believe in a democracy in which people are entitled to basic needs such as food, shelter and medical care. These, socialists tell us, should not be counted as wealth, nor a savings account for emergencies, like when the car that gets family workers to the job, suddenly conks out, a constant fear of so many in the working class. Grant this much, and wealth is that which remains. By this standard, the vast majority of Americans have zero wealth. Michael Parenti pointed out 15 years ago that the wealthiest one fourth of one percent own more wealth than the bottom 99%, and wealth inequality has gotten worse since then. History shows that the overlords reach this point in cycles over the centuries and only quit when the likes of guillotines are brought out and their heads roll. Its taking a little longer this time for the Czar to be gunned down because the oligarchs have the most sophisticated media system ever devised, but in the end revolution will only be bloodier when it comes, because the frustration will be so much higher. michaelparenti.org/Superrich.html Unless we can inform the masses around the propaganda in time, for a nonviolent peoples revolution.
